How often does your phone or computer interrupt you with notifications or alerts?
What if there was a unique notification or alert on our phones and computers that reminded us to embrace the day?
I used to be the mom years ago with the thick planner filled out way ahead. I had everything lined up—my two kids’ elementary school journey, high school, sports, scholarships, and then college. This all seemed fine and normal until the lineup went askew. You see, sometimes when we plan so far ahead we miss out on priceless moments right in front of us. We don’t know how many of these precious moments we will receive and need to make a difference now.
My daughter, Christina, taught me this right from the start of her life. It was not when she was diagnosed at the age of ten with cancer. She was touching many people with life lessons from the beginning.
Here is a passage from my book, If There’s a Mailbox in Heaven. I write to Christina, and send her everything inside of me.
Dearest Christina,
When you were born, I held you close in my arms and whispered,
“Welcome to the world.” The funny thing is, you were the one who
welcomed everyone and every gift from God. You embraced the day,
grasped each moment and treasured what it held, demonstrating the
importance of not wasting any time our Lord gives us.
I pray that next time we all hear an alert or notification, we embrace that task, that time with loved ones, that moment. For in every moment God gives us we have the chance to make it truly count!
May God bless you in this moment and always!
